Vibration damping mechanism for helicopter includes spring-mounted inertial mass with magnet and coil generating electric power in response to vibration
The mechanism comprises an electro-dynamic motor with a coil (20) mechanically connected to the base (1), and a magnetic circuit suspended by a spring (22). The coil may be selectively coupled to a resistive electric load which provides damping at two different levels, according to operating requirements. The vibration damping device comprises an element converting mechanical energy into electrical power, mounted on a base which is designed to be fixed on the structure to be damped. The mechanism comprises an electro-dynamic motor with a coil (20) mechanically connected to the base (1), and a magnetic circuit suspended by at least one spring (22). The magnetic circuit includes a magnetic block (10) with poles pieces (11,12). The coil is coupled with an electric load which has a resistive component. This includes a control (COM) which is able to vary the value of the resistive load on the basis of at least two values. This provides damping at two levels, the first of which may operate with the coil in open circuit, whilst the second may be in short circuit.
