The carriage has a sleeve (9) to guide and hold a tube, and a drive motor (7) to move it along the machine frame (2). It also has devices to drive and guide the sleeve, which are independent of those for carriage movement. This permits movement of the sleeve in longitudinal direction parallel to the machine frame. The carriage has a first bearer (26) guided translatory on the frame, and a second bearer (27), fastened to the sleeve. This acts with guide elements on the first bearer, to permit translatory movement of the second bearer relative to the first one, using a drive unit (28).
