The UMTS call processing method has, prior to accepting a call a calculation of each new call equivalent pass band. The pass band is calculated from the service quality required and assigning the quality. The sum of the equivalent pass band for the new call and all established calls is found. Only if the maximum equivalent pass band is not exceeded is the call accepted.
