New strain of Cladiosporum sphaerospermum, useful for decontaminating soil, degrades polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nitro compounds and organohalogen compounds

The strain of Cladiosporum sphaerospermum CNCM I-2255, or its derivatives, (A), is able to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) containing at least 5 rings, including all 5- or 6-ring PAH. An Independent claim is also included for treatment of materials contaminated with recalcitrant pollutants by contacting them with (A).
