The support, or blepharostat, consists of a one-piece moulded plastic component (10), especially made by injection, having upper and lower grooves (12, 14) for the eyelids and inner (16) and outer (18) connectors, leaving a free central aperture (20) for the intervention. The component is shaped to follow the curvature of the eye; its grooves have rounded front and rear edges (22, 24) of the same or different heights, and in the latter case the rear edge is lower than the front one.
