The motor (1) includes rotor position sensors (9) used to control the motor in auto-commutation mode. The sensors (9) are Hall effect probes having analogue or digital outputs.. The motor (1) has a stator (2) with windings (3) and a rotor having N pole pairs (5), where N is greater than or equal to 4 all being different by a multiple of 3. The stator has P * 9 identical poles (6), separated by 40 degrees / P. The stator poles are consecutively grouped by three so as to define a phase (8) forming a circuit W of three consecutive poles (6). The central stator pole (7) supports the phase winding (3). A rotor position sensor (9) is placed in a location (10) sensibly equidistant between two consecutive stator poles not belonging to the same phase.
