Production of longitudinal reinforcing elements for sectional thermoplastic elastomer articles comprises: (a) preactivating glass fibers by dipping in a solution containing a mixture of epoxides and diisocyanates; and (b) coextruding the fibers with a thermoplastic material functionalized with epoxide- and/or diisocyanate-reactive groups. An Independent claim is also included for glass fiber reinforcement produced by the above process.
