The suspension bridge roadway (1) is suspended by cables (2) to which are attached principal load bearing cables (8,9). To the right of each pair of cables is a crosspiece (12) perpendicular to the roadway longitudinal axis. At each end of the crosspiece is a ballast (13) supported by a cable (14). The fastening point of this support cable to each load bearing cable is connected to the opposite fastening point by a cable (15).
