The hydrophone has a detection unit (S) producing an electrical signal on electric wires (9a, 9b) in response to pressure variations, and flexible wall (4) bending under the action of the pressure exerted externally on the hydrophone. Electric wires of the detection unit are connected to a switch (6) actuated by the wall for a predetermined pressure and release of switch inhibits the response of a sensitive unit. An Independent claim is also included for a method of mounting the hydrophone.
