The operating rod (2) consists of a steel tube between 900-1200 mm in length which has a hole (3) at one end and a cylindrical fitting with a male hexagonal shank (1) at the other end. The hole enables a screw taken from the knee joint to release the former operating rod to be reused to secure the new rod. The male hexagonal shank fits into the female socket of a cordless screwdriver which is than able to operate the shutters
