The control of a cursor on a computer screen is made using a mouse that has an optical sensor to respond to position changes. The sensor (20) is built into a recess on the underside of the mouse and a lens (21) focuses a light source onto the pad. The sensor can also be built into the surface of a laptop and responds to finger movement.
