The audiovisual domestic network management system allows interconnection of equipment. Each equipment is controlled by a control module, and has a bridge connection to each bus. Searches can be carried out via the bridge interconnection to find new control modules connected to a local bus. The search investigates control modules connected to other buses on the network which could feed the module. An active mechanism operates if there are results, selecting the best equipment from predetermined functional criteria. There is a mechanism to install the selected control unit.
