Auto-bronzing composition for external application comprises: dihydroxyacetone or erythrulose; red vegetable dye extracted from specified leaves, flowers, berries and/or bark; and a black vegetable dye extracted from Eclipta prostata. Auto-bronzing composition for external application in a cosmetic support comprises: (a) an oside comprising dihydroxyacetone or erythrulose; (b) a red vegetable dye extracted from leaves of Lawsonia inermis, berries of Daphne mezereum, leaves and flowers of Opinis spinosa, flowers of Carthamus tinctorius, flowers of Symhytum officinale, bark of Lithospermum salicaria or Lythrum salicaria; and (c) a black vegeatble dye extracted from Eclipta prostata. An Independent claim is also included for the coloration of human skin by application of the composition.
