This kit comprises a removable mandrel (50), capable of being inserted inside the sheath of the probe body and movable in translation and in rotation inside the latter, this mandrel comprising at its distal end a means (56) rotational coupling to allow the rotational drive (28) of the probe head. The mandrel (50) comprises: a central core (52, 71) carrying at its distal end said means (56) for rotationally coupling, and at its proximal end a member for manipulation (32) by the practitioner; and a hollow tube (54) axially housing the core. The length of the hollow tube is less than that of the core, so that the latter emerges from the hollow tube at both proximal and distal ends of the tube, so as to allow the rotational drive of the core and correlatively of the rotation coupling means, by action on the handling member, essentially without rotation of the hollow tube.
