Long-span concrete beam reinforcement has fixed and sliding sections with intermediate floating rings

The reinforcement, especially for a long-span concrete beam used in house-building, has a generally rectangular parallelepiped shape, with bars (4, 5, 6, 7; 15, 16, 17, 18) held in position by welded rectangular rings (8, 19), consists of a main section (1) at one end, a sliding section (2) at the other, intermediate floating rings (3) and lengthwise reinforcing rods. The lower bars (15, 16) of the sliding section have two cross-members (20, 21) about 0.5 m apart, and the lower reinforcing rods are connected by a cross bar (22) that interacts with the crposs-members to limit the movement of the sliding section relative to the fixed one.
