The motor vehicle door lock has a bolt (2) with three stable positions for closing, opening and first notch position. the bolt is operated by a kinematic chain (10). A first switch (14) has positions corresponding to open and closed positions of the lock. There is a secondary switch (18) moving between bolt locked and first notch, and open positions. When the bolt is in the locked position, the second switch is non-operational.
