Fabrication of a metal element by induction heating and rapid cooling involves heating only certain zones of the element above the austenite transition temperature and maintaining other zones below this temperature
Fabrication of a metal element (1) is carried out by heating followed by a hardening by rapid cooling, in which some zones of the metal element remain non-hardened. The metal element is heated by electric conduction heating and only certain zones (4) are heated to a temperature greater than the austenite transition temperature during or before the electric conduction heating. The selective heating effect is obtained by cooling and/or electrically short-circuited and/or thermally short-circuiting in a targeted manner during the induction heating of certain zones (3), in order to maintain the temperature of these zones below the austenite transition temperature.
