A sulky such as for harness racing behind a horse comprises a lightweight two wheeled frame with shafts 34 which are hitched in use to the horse. The frame has an A-shaped portion (14,20,26 in figure 4) which is angled rearwardly of side members 44 so as to reduce the likelihood of the sulky interfering with the rear legs of the horse, particularly when attempting tight manoeuvres. A seat 28 for a driver is provided on the A-shaped cross member, and stirrups 52 may also be provided, said stirrups may have both straight and curved portions offering different positions for the driver. The shafts 34 may be detachable from tubular projections 32, and the sulky may be used for both racing and training purposes.
