Transmitting data from imaging device using device ID and universal image capture language.

Image data is received from a image capture device such as camera 102 at a range of electrical devices 104, 110 including personal digital assistant (PDA) 108, computer 106, fax 112 and printer 114. Camera 102 transmits data, such as camera identification data, in a universal or standardised language, such as the universal image capture language specified; thus, problems of language incompatibility between imaging device 102 and receiving devices 104, 110 are alleviated. Once image capture device 102 has been identified or authenticated, the image data is then received. As shown in Figure 2, device 102 may comprise modules including processing device (200), memory with further modules (202) and various interfaces (204, 206, 208, 210). The method steps in carrying out communication with the system described are shown in Figures 5 and 6.
