The method of measurement comprises filling the opening (36, fig. 3) in a body (26) with fluid that can absorb electro-magnetic radiation such as light (40). The radiation is then transmitted through the body (26) and the fluid inside it. The intensity of the transmitted light is measured in an area that correspond to a radiation path through the fluid in the opening. The measured intensity is used to evaluate the absorbance in the radiation path, and the length of the radiation path itself, and hence, the dimension of the opening along the path. The opening may be micro-channels of a micro-reactor in which the dimension of its channels are not exactly known. When the dimension of the channels are found the method can be used on the channels of known dimensions to find the concentration of the fluid inside the channels.
