PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simultaneously decomposing a cycloalkyl phthalate and a straight chain alkyl and/or branched alkyl phthalate, and to provide a method for decomposing/treating waste water containing these compounds.;SOLUTION: This method for decomposing/treating the phthalic ester or waste water containing the phthalic ester is characterized by using a microorganism belonging to the genus Arthrobacter having an ability for decomposing the cycloalkyl phthalate and a microorganism belonging to the genus Rhodoccocus Nocardia having an ability for decomposing di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
