PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic library server capable of appropriately protecting the copyrights of electronic books when electronic books are lent out with an electronic library service.;SOLUTION: This electronic library server 1 for performing a book lending service for lending out electronic books whose lending request is issued from a user terminal 2 through data communication using a network 3 is provided with a book data base 13 in which a plurality of electronic books being the target of lending are stored, a library managing part 162 for managing the number of those lendable electronic books stored in this book data base and a lending managing part 164. Then, the lending managing part 164 compares the current number of lent electronic books with the number of lendable electronic books managed by the book managing part when the electronic books stored in the book data base 13 are lent out, and judges that the lending of the electronic books is possible when the current number of lent electronic books does not reach the number of lendable electronic books, and judges that the lending of the electronic books is impossible when the current number of lent electronic books has reached the number of lendable electronic books.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
