PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet a high output of an internal combustion engine by increasing the amount of a valve lift without enlarging the outer diameter of a valve system valve lifter, and smoothly bringing a crown wall into sliding contact with a cam.;SOLUTION: When a protruding curve surface (4) of a spherical shape is formed into an annular shape on at least part of the crown wall (2) of the valve system type valve lifter (1), and a complementary recessed curve surface (5) is formed on at least a connection surface (33) of the cam (3) which is brought into contact with the protruding curve surface (4) of the crown wall (2), a contact point between the cam (3) and the crown wall (2) can be set on more inward side than the outer periphery of the cap wall in a diametrical direction, the connection surface (33) of the cam (3) continuous to a reference surface (30) or a protruding surface (32) is continuously and smoothly brought into sliding contact with the protruding curve surface (4) of the crown wall (2). Therefore, the amount of the valve lift can be increased, and an impact between the cam (3) and the crown wall (2) can be decreased, thus restraining impact noises.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
