PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a response characteristics measuring instrument that can accurately measure the response characteristics of an object to be measured by using a light source, such as the superhigh-pressure mercury lamp etc., by solving the problem that the measurement of response time becomes difficult due to the ripple component contained in the light emitted from the light source.;SOLUTION: The light emitted from the light source 1 is converged to a liquid crystal panel 4 through a condensing optical system 3 and transmitted through the panel 4. Then the converged light transmitted through the panel 4 and having a changed angle of rotation is again transmitted through an analyzer 11 and converged to a photodetector 13 through another condensing optical system 12. The photodetector 13 outputs a voltage signal to an electronic circuit 8 in accordance with the intensity of the detected light and the voltage signal is measured as time series data together with another voltage signal based on the detection of reflected light produced by a half mirror 5.
