PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device having a high display quality by pasting a heat dissipating sheet with a high adhesion and radiating the heat from the backlight unit effectively.;SOLUTION: The backlight unit used in an electro-optical device comprises a light guide plate, a light source arranged at the end face of the light guide plate, and a heat dissipating sheet arranged at the vicinity of the light source and the light guide plate, and the heat dissipating sheet has opening parts such as a cutting line and a slit. Since, in the pasting process of the heat dissipating sheet, the air which enters between the heat dissipating sheet and the object pasting the heat dissipating sheet can be discharged to the outside from the opening parts of the heat dissipating sheet, the heat dissipating sheet can be pasted without having bubbles and wrinkles. Thereby, the heat generated from the light source is effectively radiated and prevented from being transmitted to the electro-optical device, and the display property can be improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
