PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve function of voltage selection in a peak-to-peak AC voltage selective control; in an image forming apparatus having a power source circuit 1 applying AC/DC superposed voltage by one set of voltage boosting means per three sets of charging means in contact with a rotatable latent image carrier 2, and a detecting means 28 for detecting AC in the latent image carrier on applying voltage; in the power supply circuit 1 outputting oscillating power outputting stepwise more than two kinds of peak-to-peak AC voltage, with the detecting current over peak-to-peak selective control AC threshold value by the detecting means on applying voltage, and using the voltage on detecting minimum current value as a charged bias voltage on forming images.;SOLUTION: Alternating current oscillation output is part of initial rotation during power source charge of the apparatus, and voltage between a plurality of alternating current peaks is changed by stage and oscillated.
