PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving ingestion behavior, including increase or decrease of consumption of foods, relating to treatment of obesity, bulimia, inappetence, etc. PSOLUTION: This method includes administering a selected Y5 receptor agonist or antagonist. A compound having a structure expressed in the specification is exemplified as the antagonist. Further, an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding the Y5 receptor, an isolated Y5 receptor protein, a vector containing the isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding the Y5 receptor, a cell containing the vector, an antibody against the Y5 receptor, a probe useful for detecting the nucleic acid encoding the Y5 receptor, an antisense oligonucleotide complementary to any one of unique sequences of the nucleic acid molecule encoding the Y5 receptor, and an animal into which a non-human gene is introduced and which expresses a normal or variant Y5 receptor DNA are provided, respectively.
