METHOD FOR ESTIMATING HARDENABILITY OF STEEL USING JOMINY TYPE END QUENCHING METHOD AND STEEL MELTING METHOD

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel melting method for suppressing the waste tapping of steel and enhancing a yield by reducing the number of trial processes for tapping a small amount of steel to analyze steel by calculating chemical components within a Jominy standard range using a Jominy estimating formula in order to obtain steel having proper hardenability in the melting of steel. PSOLUTION: The hardenability, that is, the Jominy value of steel by a Jominy type end quenching method prescribed in JIS GO561 is estimated by adapting the mass % values of [C], [Si], [Mn], [S], [Ni], [Cr], [Mo], [Cu] and [Al] being foundry ladle analyzing components prescribed in JIS GO321 to a Jominy value estimation formula.
