PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking method of a panhead for a camera with which even a target on a high-rise building is tracked in accordance with the movement of a moving object on which the camera is mounted without requiring an image processing means or map data. PSOLUTION: In the tracking method of the panhead for the camera, a position of the moving object is acquired as positions XSBT/SBand YSBT/SBof the target by passing just above the target (step S11), a visual line of the panhead for the camera is directed to the target at another position, and positions X and Y of the moving object, a height HSB0/SBthereof and an angle SB0/SBof depression of the visual line are acquired (step S12). By using XSBT/SB, YSBT/SB, X, Y and SB0/SB, a height difference hSB0/SBbetween the moving object and the target is calculated (step S13). When the moving object acquires a camera image of the target while moving around the target by using XSBT/SB, YSBT/SB, HSB0/SB, hSB0/SB; the positions X and Y of the moving object during the movement, the height H thereof and an azimuth angle of the nose of an airplane, an azimuth angle of the visual line of the panhead for the camera directed to the target, and the angle of depression are calculated from the moving object and defined as a commanded visual line angle (step S14).
