PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for low-pressure casting and a metallic mold in the low-pressure casting apparatus with which the improvements of quality in a cast product and productivity due to shortening of the casting cycle can be expected.;SOLUTION: The method for controlling the cooling of the metallic mold in this low-pressure casting apparatus, is provided with a thermo-couple 54 for detecting molten metal temperature at a sprue 45, an upper mold cooling water passage 55 formed in an upper mold 41, a lower mold cooling water passage 59 formed in a lower mold 43, a side mold cooling water passage 58 formed in a side mold 42, an ignition plug insert cooling water passage 56 formed in an ignition plug insert 52 and a lifter insert cooling water passage 57 formed in a lifter insert 53, continued through an upper mold cooling water control valve 63, a lower mold cooling water control valve 75, a side mold cooling water control valve 72, an ignition plug insert cooling water control valve 66 and a lifter insert cooling water control valve 69 in a cooling water supplying source 61, respectively. Then, in this metallic mold cooling control method, the respective cooling water control valves 63, 75, 72, 66, 69 are controlled based on the variation of the measured temperature with the thermo-couple 54.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
