PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recombinant xylanase taken out from anaerobic fungi, especially, from Neocallimastix frontalis and Neocallimastix patriciarum, and comprising an enzyme which has heat resistance and resistance to an alkaline pH, and further has high activity and high specificity to a xylan.;SOLUTION: This recombinant xylanase is provided by separating a xylanase having a specified amino acid sequence or a gene of a xylan-degrading fragment of the xylanase from the Neocallimastix frontalis and the N. patriciarum, and then introducing the xylanase or the gene into a coli bacillus and/or Pichia methanolica, so that a large amount of the recombinant xylanase is expressed to be provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
