PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous silica material having a low-concentration gaseous benzene selective adsorptive function of an environmental level in order to improve the selectivity of gaseous benzene.;SOLUTION: The gaseous benzene selective adsorptive porous silica material which has pores (mesopores) of 1 to 50 nm in pore diameter and pores (micropores) of 0.2 to 0.8 nm pore diameter on the wall surfaces of the mesopores and in which the ratio of the surface area of the micropores to the surface area of the mesopores is ≥0.3 to the surface area 1 of the mesopores and the method for manufacturing the same comprising heating a solution containing the gaseous benzene selective adsorptive porous silica material and a block copolymer to 30 to 60°C, and adding a silica precursor to the solution to form precipitate and sintering the precipitate at 400 to 500°C after drying the precipitate are provided. The improvement in the efficiency of concentration in the gaseous benzene, gas selectivity and the recovery efficiency by heating desorption can be realized.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
