PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress both low temperature corrosion and high temperature corrosion in utility and industrial furnace systems.;SOLUTION: Corrosion of an atmospheric burner unit is reduced by adding an effective amount of manganese, a manganese precursor source, or a derivative to a combustion system. Furthermore, a catalyst package can be included in the system, and the catalyst package can be composed of individual organometallic compounds, a combination, a mixture, or precursors of one type or more from Li, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Mo, Fe, Co, Pt, and Ce. Manganese components included in the catalyst package reduces or eliminates effect deterioration of the combustion system, and as a result, it improves combustion and reduces an emission amount.
