PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system with high security and convenience by using an electronic tally.;SOLUTION: At least a part of authentication information is previously divided into two parts serving as tallies, and one server tally is stored in a server while the other user tally is stored in a portable memory on the terminal side. Card specific information specific to a non-contact IC card is made to be sent from the terminal to the server to be tied to the server tally on the server side. In logging in, the user tally and the card specific information are transmitted from the terminal to the server, and the server retrieves the server tally by using the card specific information. The server matches the retrieved server tally and the user tally received from the terminal with each other and encodes them for reconstruction, and using them, the server obtains authentication information.
