PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently carrying out hydrogen absorption to a hydrogen occluding material (manufacture of hydrogen occlusion substance) and hydrogen emission from the hydrogen occluding material (hydrogen occluded substance) storing hydrogen by a simple means which can replace a conventional pressure control or temperature control therewith. PSOLUTION: A hydrogen absorption method is characterized by providing a carbon material 2 with vibration having a frequency corresponding to an intrinsic frequency (characteristic frequency: fC) of a carbon atom 3a in a condition of the absence of hydrogen 1 adsorbed. Further, a hydrogen emission method is characterized by providing the carbon material with vibration having the frequency corresponding to the intrinsic frequency (characteristic frequency: fHC) of the carbon atom in a condition of the presence of hydrogen-adsorbed. By providing the carbon material with external force of the frequency fC or the frequency fHC, absorption efficiency of hydrogen to the carbon material or emission efficiency of hydrogen from the carbon material (hydrogen occlusion substance) storing hydrogen can be enhanced.
