PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new gemini surfactant and a manufacturing method for a mesoporous substance using this. PSOLUTION: There are provided a gemini surfactant designated by a general formula (1) (In the formula, RSP1/SPand RSP2/SPare each independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; RSP3/SPis a 5-40C alkyl group; X is a halogen atom; r is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group or a 1-10 alkoxyl group; j is an integer of 0 or 1; n is an integer from 1 to 12; and m is an integer from 0 to 10), and a manufacturing method for a mesoporous substance using the gemini type surfactant as a structure derivative capable of providing the mesoporous substance in which pores less than 10nm are evenly distributed.
