PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light-diffusing agent suitable for a light-diffusing resin film useful in a backlight of a liquid-crystal display, a lighting apparatus, etc. PSOLUTION: The light-diffusing agent for a synthetic resin film comprises calcium-based inorganic particles satisfying (a) 0.1≤d50≤5 (μm) and (b) 0≤α2 (d50: the average particle diameter (μm) of 50 wt.% of weight cumulative total calculated from the large particle side in a particle size distribution in a micro truck FRA; d90: the average particle diameter (μm) of 90 wt.% of the weight cumulative total; d10: the average particle diameter (μm) of 10 wt.% of the weight cumulative total; α exhibits uniformity of the inorganic particles and α=(d90-d10)/d50).
