PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-base sintered compact superior in a cast-in property by a light metal alloy, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.;SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises mixing an iron-base powder, and a copper powder which is blended so as to make a Cu content in a mixed powder to be 5 to 40 mass%, a graphite powder which is blended so as to make a C content in the mixed powder to be 0.5 to 2.5 mass%, and a lubricant powder, or further a fine particle powder for improving machinability, to prepare the mixed powder; then charging the mixed powder into a die; press-forming it so as to have a desired mean heat expansion coefficient as in sintered state; sintering it into a sintered compact; and further subjecting the sintered compact to shot blasting or further steam treatment to adjust the surface roughness Rz into 10 to 100 μm. Thereby, adhesiveness and bonding strength of the sintered compact increases when cast-in by the light metal alloy, and the cast-in properties are improved. In the above step, in lieu of a pure iron powder, a martensitic stainless steel powder, a ferritic stainless steel powder, or a Cr, Mo or W powder may be further blended.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
