PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aerial wire spacing widening tool which is simply constituted at low cost and yet makes it possible to easily and quickly widen the spacing between three existing aerial wires parallel with one another in a short period of time, and a method wherein the spacing between three aerial wires can be favorably widened and the wires are favorably supported using the tool.;SOLUTION: A middle wire gripping member 3 for gripping a middle aerial wire S2 is rotatably installed at the substantially central part of one main body rod 2. A line wire gripping member 7 which is brought into a state of gripping aerial wires S1 to S3 by external operation. The line wire gripping member 7 is installed at either or both of two parts at both the ends of the main body rod 1 and apart from the middle wire gripping member 3 by a distance equivalent to the spacing between the aerial wires S1 to S3 to be widened. At the same time, a line wire gripping member which is brought into a state of gripping the aerial wires S1 to S3 by external operation or a line wire holding member 4 which holds the aerial wires S1 to S3 is installed at the other.
