PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent a processing cloth from lifting up or shrinking with pulling of needle thread when arm unit is switched to a retracted position.;SOLUTION: If a retraction command touch key is operated (S13:Yes), while a sewing machine motor is running in the operation (S14:Yes), the sewing machine motor stops so that a sewing needle is positioned in a needle up position (S15). First of all, thread cutting process is carried out with the stop of sewing operation (S16), then thread tension opening process is carried out successively (S17). In this manner, when a switching of the arm unit to retracted position is enabled, the carriage is moved temporarily to the starting position (S18, 19: Yes), and it is finally moved further backward to the unlock position (S20).
