PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate a processing speed for authentication and to simplify implementation by applying, to the authentication, techniques such as error detection enabled cyclic codes (CRC codes) or error-correcting codes which are conventionally and widely used. PSOLUTION: In all communications between magnetic disk devices connected over a network or between RAID devices combining them, for the error detection enabled code (CRC code) implemented with a key exchange means for realizing encryption in authentication and information exchange in the relevant device, a means is provided for using its generation polynomial type to establish the authentication of the relevant device and for the error-correcting code, an intensive positioning error amount is utilized to establish the authentication of the relevant device.
