PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to determine a purchase based on more pieces of information by retrieving unknown musical compositions similar to his/her favorite kind of music from book information for musical compositions owned according to his/her own taste or musical compositions clearly fitted to the taste in the retrieval of a musical composition desired to acquire, and further simultaneously presenting information for price or similarity as the retrieval result.;SOLUTION: This device has a database for storing a characteristic quantity extracted from the acoustic signal of a musical composition in conformation to a musical composition identifier for identifying the musical composition; a similar piece retrieval means for extracting a musical composition identifier corresponding to a characteristic quantity having high similarity to the characteristic quantity corresponding to a given characteristic quantity or given musical piece identifier; and a musical composition information retrieval means for retrieving the address and price of a musical composition corresponding to the extracted musical composition identifier.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
