METHOD FOR IMPROVING ATTRACTING FUNCTION FOR NATURAL ENEMY TO INSECT PEST IN PLANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving attracting functions for natural enemies to insect pests in plants with which production of volatile substances is induced even when jasmonic acid is used at a low concentration nontoxic to the plants.;SOLUTION: The method for improving the attracting functions for the natural enemies to the insect pests in the plants is characterized by mixing the jasmonic acid with spermine and treating the plants therewith. The method utilizes synergistic effects of the jasmonic acid with the spermine. Induction of biosynthesis of the volatile substances can be promoted, and attracting functions for the natural enemies to the insect pests in the plants can be improved even when the jasmonic acid is supplied at a low concentration with slight adverse effects. The method is considered as effectively utilizable for exterminating the insect pests in the plants.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
