PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for segmenting and emphasizing a compound document. PSOLUTION: The method for segmenting the compound document starts from reception of image data and next, processes the image data by both of first and second scales. Next, an area type of the compound document is determined based on combination of processing output in the first scale and processing output in the second scale. Embodiment of the method for labelling digital image data, the method for labelling and emphasizing a document specified via the digital data and a recording medium readable by a related computer is provided. An image reproduction device and a microprocessor constituted so as to segment and emphasize image data in relation to the compound document are also provided.
