PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new strain capable of degrading a compound having a steroid skeleton and belonging to the genus Novosphingobium; and to provide a method for utilizing the strain. PSOLUTION: The strain capable of degrading the compound having the steroid skeleton belongs to the genus Novosphingobium. The compound having the steroid skeleton is estradiol, estrone or estriol.
