PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently removing PCB from a PCB-containing hydrocarbonaceous oily substance which is obtained by treating a PCB pollutant in vacuum-heating separation equipment.;SOLUTION: In the method for removing PCB, the PCB pollutant is treated in a vacuum heat treatment apparatus to generate a gaseous phase and PCB which is separated and recovered by cooling the gaseous phase and/or PCB from the gaseous phase are/is absorbed by a high boiling point hydrocarbonaceous solvent. PCB is removed from the separated PCB-containing hydrocarbonaceous oily substance to be decomposed. Herein, preparatory treatment comprising the removal of the low boiling point thermally decomposed product due to the distillation of the hydrocarbonaceous oily substance and the adsorptive removal of a tar-like substance due to an adsorbent is performed preliminary before performing the decompositional treatment of a polychlorinated aromatic compound.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
