PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting sintering time after performing temperature prediction in the length direction of a sintering machine using the respective histories of past state changes in the respective positions of a plurality of wind boxes.;SOLUTION: The method for predicting the sintering time in the sintering machine 1 comprises the following steps: (a) a step of selecting respective positions of the plurality of wind boxes each having a maximum temperature of current time and a predetermined temperature; (b) a step of computing a predicted maximum temperature using the history of past state change in the position of the wind box; (c) a step of computing a predicted predetermined temperature on the basis of the predicted maximum temperature; (d) a step of computing the position of the wind box corresponding to the predicted maximum temperature and the predicted predetermined temperature; and (e) a step of computing the position of the wind box corresponding to a target temperature using the distribution of the predicted temperature and then computing the sintering time from a distance between the above position and an ignition means and a speed of a conveyance means of current time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
