PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a position of a mobile station in base station arrangement for the purpose of using efficiently a radio source for information communication in a cellular mobile communication of a spread spectrum system. PSOLUTION: Extension of communication range of a range finding signal and reduction of an interfering amount are made compatible by recognizing that an information quantity necessary for the range finding signal is sufficiently small in general, compared with an information quantity necessary for the information communication, and allowing a sufficiently long symbol period i.e. a spread code period for the range finding signal to obtain a sufficiently long spread code bit length i.e. spread code gain.
