PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information communication method enabling information communication between a center station and a portable receiving terminal by using a CATV (cable television) transmission network, and to provide a CATV amplifier.;SOLUTION: In the information communication method using the CATV transmission network, signals including regional information are transmitted from the center station to the amplifier on the transmission network by using a downstream vacant band, and the transmitted signals are emitted from the amplifier to space so that the portable receiving terminal can receive the signals. The CATV amplifier branches some of the downstream signals which are input, separates signals having a prescribed frequency from the branched downstream signals, converts the frequency of the separated signals into a frequency which the portable receiving terminal can receive, amplifies the frequency-converted signals, and is provided with a means for emitting the amplified signals to the space.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
