PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tight fitting device for a first and a second member in which the second member is accelerated toward the first member and make contact therewith while it is given a certain kinetic energy. SOLUTION: By a first holding device 40 a first member 10 is held movably, and its approach to the second member 12 is restricted by a stopper 94, and by a spring 112 the first member 10 is pressed to the stopper 94 with a force greater than zero. By an accelerating device 46 the second member 12 is accelerated and contacted with the first member 10 to generate a tight fit. If the fitting force generated between the two members 10 and 12 is going to exceed a reference value at the time of contacting, a spring 112 deflects to cause the first member 10 to make movement together with the second member 12, so that no excessive fitting force will be generated between the two members 10 and 12.
